Although a mask cannot completely protect a healthy individual from infection, it still makes sense to wear one. It’s one way of stopping the spread of the virus. It is therefore not a bad idea to return to using cloth masks, which are reusable, but must be boiled and ironed after use. It is not a medical device with certified effectiveness, and doesn’t protect against infection, but it does significantly reduce the spread and inhalation of droplets. It is not a substitute for certified respirators or masks.
